Middle School Arts
Grades 5th-8th
In Middle School Art, students are engaged in a hands-on studio environment. The dynamic curriculum is designed to be interdisciplinary, connecting art skills to academic content. Students experiment with and work toward proficiency in a variety of media and styles including drawing, painting, design, ceramics, printmaking, photography, sculpture, digital art, and public installations. The themes and imagery used in the projects are derived from many sources. Students connect the influences of art history, world history, literature, science, theater, technology, and contemporary art. Throughout this process, students apply critical thinking skills as they discuss and write about their work and respond to the work of others.
