Costa Rica Trip Returns!

The 2023 Science Expeditions trip to Costa Rica was an unforgettable experience.

We traveled to La Fortuna, home of the Arenal Volcano and many hot springs, lush rainforest, and so very many amazing animals. We rafted through the jungle and saw monkeys, sloths, toucans, caimans, tarantulas, and so much more. We hiked through the rainforest in Mistico Arenal Hanging Bridges Park, where we were able to see the jungle from above! We toured a working organic farm, eating fruit right off the trees and vines. We bathed in the hot springs, volunteered at Escuela Aqua Azul, painting their buildings, and then got beat by their local 5th graders 21-3 in futbol! We walked down and back up the 500 steps to the bottom of the breathtaking Arenal Waterfall and swam in the pristine waters. We had AMAZING food every single day.

We learned about the country (Costa Rica is one of the first countries in the world that produces ALL of their electricity with renewable resources!), earth science, the environment, and the different flora and fauna in the country. We volunteered for a local school, which we plan to keep a relationship with, and we also learned a lot about each other and had an absolutely life-changing trip.

We drove to the Pacific coast and spent our last full day on a boat in the Pacific, where we danced, ate, and snorkeled. It doesn't get better than that! Stay tuned for where we'll go on the Science Expeditions trip of 2024!!
