Hill Top Hawks Esports Team Dominates Weekend Super Smash Bros. Tournament

This weekend, there was a Super Smash Bros. Ultimate tournament featuring both the Hill Top Hawks and members of the Esports team from Benchmark School in Media. It was not a usual tournament format. Instead, it was a “Reverse Main”, a specific style of tournament where competitors could only choose to play as their opponents' main/most used characters. It was a long day, with sixty matches played total. In the end, after an amazing run coming from the loser's bracket, Adam F. ’23 emerged victorious by defeating Ben D. ’23 in back-to-back best-of-seven sets in the double elimination tournament. Overall, the Hawks Esports team had an impressive showing. In addition to our two finalists, we had students earn fourth, fifth and tenth-place finishes. Players from Benchmark School also competed well, finishing in sixth, seventh, eighth, and ninth-place. Hill Top Prep’s Esports coach Dan Costa ’07 entered the tournament in order to even out the brackets and finished in third-place.
