Spirit of the Hawks
RJ P. showed great Courage today by combining his passion for the Monsterverse with his newfound knowledge of biology to create a unique and imaginative story! He introduced a titan named Destroyah, explaining how its different "forms" are influenced by various biological processes. RJ's enthusiasm and excitement as he shared his story were contagious, and it was clear that he had put a lot of thought into connecting his interests with what he's learned in class.
Eight students from Chess Activity received a Spirit of the Hawk for Leadership. These students spent the last few months independently setting up games and using the whole period to play and practice chess - Ian Orr, Jackson Bleznak, Angelo Fichera, Frey Morgan-Krebs, Ian Goldberg, Leo Frankel, Connor Meehan, and Owen Allen.
In addition, our school-wide chess tournament finished yesterday with a champion and runner up. Frey Morgan-Krebs is our 2024 all-school runner up and lower school champion; Ian Goldberg is our 2024 all-school and upper school champion.
Senior Day-11/15 Mr. Weldie reminded students that Friday, is the first designated Senior Day for Graduation Projects. Seniors will not be in school or attending any classes on this day, as they will be engaged in job shadowing experiences or other activities that would support their educational and career aspirations.

Annual NHS Food Drive Thanksgiving is just around the corner and as is our tradition, Hill Top’s National Honor Society is organizing a food drive to benefit those living with food insecurity. This year, your donations will be delivered on November 21st to ElderNet’s Ada Mutch Food Pantry in Bryn Mawr which provides free assistance to residents of Lower Merion and Narberth living with low incomes. The food pantry accepts non-perishable, pre-packaged and canned food that has not exceeded its expiration date. For a specific list of high demand items, please click here. The NHS will place collection bins in the front lobby of the mansion beginning Wednesday, 11/6 and will continue to accept donations until Thursday, 11/21. Please send in whatever you can and as always, we thank you for your continued support of the NHS mission to provide service to our community.
Holiday Toy Drive for CHOP Ms. Gushka's partner, Matt, is holding his 18th annual Holiday Toy Drive for CHOP! He began this tradition after receiving a life-saving liver transplant at CHOP as a child. Inspired by the joy holiday gifts brought him during his stay, he’s kept this drive going ever since. You can drop any new, unwrapped toys or gift cards into the festive donation box in the lobby by Monday, December 2nd. Matt, his family, and I will deliver your generous donations to CHOP the following week.
