Today’s After School Activities Cross Country- Pick up at 4:45 pm
An additional Holiday has been added to the Hill Top Calendar School will be closed for a Head of School Holiday on Tuesday, November 5th.
Unity Day-Wednesday, October 16th Unity Day is on Wednesday, October 16th this year and everyone is encouraged to wear orange to promote joining together to create a healthier community through kindness, acceptance, and inclusion.
Minute to Win It Game Today’s Minute to Win It Game was “Post it!” hosted by Mr. Cohen. Ask your students to tell you about this fun challenge.
THRILL ON THE HILL-Tomorrow!. This is a fun, family event/fundraiser for the whole Hill Top community and beyond! There will be a 5k race, 1.5mile fun walk, raffles, and even an alumni gathering.
As an extra incentive to register for the Thrill on the Hill, Mr. Van Dyke will draw one student name every Friday to win a gift card. Today’s gift card winners- congrats to Max Fromme and Owen Young!

Summer Trek 2025 Next summer's Adventure Trek will take Hill Top Upper School students to Belize. Belize was the destination of the first Adventure Trek in 2006 and offers a huge array of experiences and activities for our students including investigating Mayan ruins, world class paddling and snorkeling on the world's second largest coral reef, hiking and ziplining through a pristine jungle, interacting with diverse cultures including Creole, Garifuna, Mestizo and Maya, a night tour of the Belize Zoo (renowned for its protection of jaguars and other species) and more. The dates of the trip are June 14-21, 2025. We will hold a virtual meeting for parents whose child is interested in this experience at 6pm on Tuesday, October 8th. Mitzvah Circle Donation Drive Please consider sending in items for the Mitzvah Circle Donation Drive. The NHS and E/T classes are collecting the following from now until October 25th:
New and Gently Used - clothing, books, toys, shoes, essential household items. New ONLY - socks and underwear, school supplies, personal hygiene items, hats, gloves and scarves.
Simply send your generous donations in with your student to be placed in the bins by the front desk. They will be delivered to the Mitzvah Circle when the E/T students visit in November. You can learn more about Mitzvah Circle and what they do, by clicking here.
LBGT History Month The DEI Committee would like to announce that Hill Top will be celebrating LBGT History Month. Let’s begin with the history of this month:
In 1994, Rodney Wilson, a Missouri high school teacher, believed a month should be dedicated to the celebration and teaching of gay and lesbian history, and gathered other teachers and community leaders. They selected October because public schools are in session and existing traditions, such as Coming Out Day (October 11), occur that month.
Gay and Lesbian History Month was endorsed by GLAAD, the Human Rights Campaign, the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force, the National Education Association and other national organizations. In 2006 Equality Forum assumed responsibility for providing content, promotion and resources for LGBT History Month.
LGBT History Month celebrates the achievements of 31 lesbian, gay, bisexual or transgender Icons. Each day in October, a new LGBT Icon is featured and we will begin highlighting these folks and their achievements at Community Meeting throughout the month. There will also be displays on the bulletin boards in Fisher Hall and Linden if you would like to read about these icons yourself.
Library Announcements Two book recommendations today, because one sort of leads into the other. In The Gospel According to Larry, child prodigy Josh Swensen has to deal with the repercussions of the fame his online alter ego Larry acquires through his anti-consumerism advocacy and website. Especially when it becomes clear that people might be close to figuring out who Larry really is.
In the sequel, Vote for Larry, Josh's best friend Beth kidnaps him to force him to come out of hiding and resume his role as Larry and run for local office. But Josh has other ideas...you see, the Constitution says that you have to be 35 to serve as president. It doesn't put an age limit on running for president.

We will not be requiring hand-written notes, but do need a parent to either email or call in order to make a change. A change may be a late arrival, early dismissal, or absence in either online or in-person attendance.
