What is Fun Friday?
Fun Friday is a monthly social outing for Hill Top students. These are after school, off-campus trips where students can socialize with their peers, practice some real-life skills and maybe get out of their comfort zones. They are chaperoned by Lisa Gargiulo and Sue McGrath, along with a rotating cast of other Hill Top faculty members.

What are some typical Fun Friday activities?
Our annual trips include a visit to a haunted house at Halloween, ice skating in Philadelphia around the holidays, and Dave and Buster's in the Spring. We also have trips planned to the movies and other bouncy-type amusement centers.

Is there a cost?
There is a cost to each Fun Friday which always includes admission to the attraction/event, transportation to and from (school bus), and the chaperone/supervision fee. Depending on the event, this cost may include food and beverage. Other times, students are responsible for bringing additional money to purchase their own food.

You can pay by check or online at https://hilltopprep.diamondmindinc.com/payment/home
(Select Make Payment, then choose Fun Friday as payment type)

Any other questions?
Don't hesitate to reach out to Lisa Gargiulo ([email protected]) or Sue McGrath ([email protected]).

Back to School Cookout-Friday 9/20
The Back to School Cookout is scheduled for Friday, September 20, 2024. This is a family event so all are welcome!

Starting at 3:30-3:45, we will have a Soccer Team vs. Faculty soccer game. If the weather is inclement, we will have an indoor game in the gym.

At 4:30, we will move up to the Mansion where we will have time to Meet and Eat until about 6:00. We hope you will enjoy a burger or hot dog while also finding some time to meet your child's teachers. If the weather is inclement, we will move everything inside.

If you would like your child to stay after school on Friday, please email or send a note to Mrs. Barnes so that she can adjust the transportation plans accordingly. If we do not have a note, we will send your child home via their regular transportation.

Library Announcements
In honor of the recent Paralympics (go watch the replays if you didn't have a chance to watch live...Goalball is fierce and Sitting Volleyball is absolutely amazing!) and to recognize Disability Pride Month, the library is highlighting The Running Dream by Wendelin Van Draanen.

The Running Dream tells the story of Jessica who is a runner. It's her whole identity. And it comes crashing down when she loses a leg in a car accident. She works slowly with doctors to learn to walk with a prosthetic, but misses her life as a runner. While trying to find her new identity, Jessica gets to know another student with a disability whom she had overlooked before the accident. As they become friends, Jessica realizes that she may still be a runner after all.

Mrs. Gillespie is looking for students who may be interested in serving on an advisory board for the Hill Top library. Students on the board would help make recommendations about book purchases, evaluate the current collections, and work with teachers to make sure that the library has sufficient resources in content areas. Advisory board members will also help promote library materials through community meeting announcements and social media posts. Anyone who is interested should see Mrs. Gillespie.

Library Card Sign Up Month
September is Library Card Sign Up Month!! Do you have a card for your public library? If so, bring it in and show Mrs. Gillespie and win some junk! If you don't, talk to Mrs. Gillespie and she can tell you how you can get one.

Attendance Procedure
We will follow the attendance procedure we implemented last year. If there is any change in your child's attendance, please email [email protected] or call 610-527-3230. We will not be requiring hand-written notes, but do need a parent to either email or call in order to make a change. A change may be a late arrival, early dismissal, or absence in either online or in-person attendance.
