Today’s music: in honor of National Black Music Appreciation Month… was Stevie Wonder’s 1973 “Higher Ground”.

Black Music Appreciation Month is an annual celebration of African-American music in the United States. It was initiated as Black Music Month by President Jimmy Carter who, on June 7, 1979, decreed that June would be the month of Black music.

Stevie Wonder is a multi-instrumentalist, and child prodigy who developed into one of the most creative physical figures of the late 20th century. Blind since shortly after birth, Wonder signed with Motown’s Tamla label at the age of eleven.
