Philly Materials Science and Engineering Day-2/1
Tomorrow, Drexel University will be hosting their annual Philly Materials Science and Engineering Day. The event runs from 10-3 at the Bossone Research Center located at 3140 Market Street. The event is free. More information is available at www.phillymaterials.org

Fun Friday Night at the Movies

STOP, DROP, AND READ!
Today, Hill Top will STOP, DROP, AND READ! This event is sponsored by the English Department. Students who participate in this optional activity will relax and read a book of their choice in one of the three book-friendly locations across campus.

Optimist Club Trip
Yesterday the Optimist Club spread optimism throughout the Bryn Mawr Extended Care facility. Each member brought handmade snowflakes with optimistic sayings to give to the residents and they also joined the residents during their activity time. Optimist members were asked to assist the residents while they played BINGO! Fun was had by all!

Unless Project Sugar Cookie & Lemonade Sale-2/18 & 2/19
Eighth graders are taking pre-orders for sugar cookies and lemonade beginning Monday, Feb. 3rd. Sugar cookies will be sold two for 1.00, lemonade- 1.00. The proceeds will go to creating a Butterfly Garden at Hill Top.


Spirit of the Hawk

Yesterday, the basketball team found they were short players and coaches for the game against Stratford Friends. Zack Renninger volunteered to step in to assist with coaching during the game. The hawks came away with a win, and Zack received a Spirit of the Hawk for Leadership!

Last semester Mr. Sedgwick’s Hobby and Board Games activity had many rules and constant game changes. This was an obstacle for some but, Ed Staud was enthusiastically willing to try anything. Ed Staud was awarded a Spirit of the Hawk for Perseverance!

Visiting Family
We welcomed a family who is looking at the 9th grade and the Hill Top’s summer program for their son.

Skiing Snowboarding and Tubing- 2/7 & 2/28

POETRY TEAM RESUMES
Student poets in grades 9-12 will meet on Thursday’s during mentor period.

Updated Hill Top Job Board
The Hill Top Job Board has been updated with part time/afterschool and weekend
positions. The board is located in the Upper Linden hallway and is divided into the 5 surrounding counties. The jobs posted are suitable positions for students. Students who are seeking a job are encouraged to take a posting as well as let Mrs. Navarra know if they have a job to post. Mrs. Navarra also offered to assist any student in seeking employment.

We have collected $49.10 made out to Hill Top for the Box Tops for Ed that everybody put in the box on Mrs. Barnes’ desk last year. Thank you for cutting them out.

Middle School Student Council Promoting Amazon Smile
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on Amazon Smile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate half of a percent of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.

The MSSC is supporting a sign-up campaign for students, faculty, family and friends to go to Smile.Amazon.com and designate Hill Top as your non-profit charity. It is important to type Hill Top Preparatory NOT Hill Top Prep; otherwise, our school does not appear in the search.

Post-Secondary Corner

Lebanon Valley College is hosting A Day at the Valley on March 27th. This is an opportunity for students to see the campus, sit in on two classes, talk with professors, and sample the food in the cafeteria (their sundae bar gets high marks from past students).
