Skiing Snowboarding and Tubing Trip- 1/10 & 2/7
Mr. Van Dyke has sent home an email with more information about the Skiing & Riding Club trips. Look for the trip form attached to Mr. Van Dyke’s email. Students interested in the Skiing, Snowboarding, and Tubing trip should return forms by 12/20. Forms are also available in the school lobby. This year, in addition to our performances from Houseband, Garage Band, & Poetry Team we will have the debut of CoHatch's project this year... Positive Thoughts!
Maddy Kunreuther & Austin Newbold have been working hard to put on a show-stopping performance of a couple of songs from their in-progress EP. Asking for help, relationships, and body positivity are just some of the themes they are tackling through this social entrepreneurship project.
For sale on Friday night, for all your holiday shopping needs, we will have several products designed by Hill Top students at Art Soup!

Winter White Out Dance-Ticket Design Contest-1/25
Conor Gibson announced that Hill Top is having a Winter White Out Dance which will take place on Saturday, January 25th at Hill Top. 9th through 12th graders interested in submitting a design for this event should sign up on the contest sheet hanging in the Snapple room.
Horticulture Club Fundraiser 12/11 - 12/17
This holiday season, rather than sending merry tweets, let's send each other joyful sweets!
Hill Top Horticulture will be selling Happy Holiday Grams. Surprise your friends or yourself with a sweet treat and a jolly note right before break.
Starting tomorrow we will be selling cookie grams for $1 each or 2 candy cane grams for $1. The sale will run through Tuesday December 17th with Holiday grams being delivered on Friday December 20th.
Parents who wish to order a Happy Holiday Gram can give their money to Mrs. Barnes along with your choice of cookie or candy cane. Please include what you would like to have written on your holiday gram tag. Cookie choices include Pappy's Chocolate Chip, Snickerdoodle, Sugar, and Snowballs. Winterfest at the Delaware River Rink- 12/20
Our next Fun Friday trip will be to WINTERFEST at the Delaware River Rink at Penn’s Landing on December 20th. We're looking forward to a fun night of ice skating, festive holiday music, and hot chocolate.

Philadelphia Zoo’s Unless Project
The eighth graders have been participating in the Philadelphia Zoo’s Unless Contest, which highlights an endangered animal and helps protect it. To help our efforts in the Unless Contest, please bring in aluminum cans and plastic bottles to school by Friday, December 20th for the Upcycle Art Sale, which will be in January. There are boxes in the gym and in the Snapple room to place your donations. Contact Ms. Gulczynski with any questions at [email protected].
Updated Hill Top Job Board
The Hill Top Job Board has been updated with part time/seasonal positions. The board is located in the Upper Linden hallway and is divided into the 5 surrounding counties. The jobs posted are suitable positions for students. Students who are seeking a job are encouraged to take a posting as well as let Mrs. Navarra know if they have a job to post. Mrs. Navarra also offered to assist any student in seeking employment.
Middle School Student Council Promoting Amazon Smile
AmazonSmile is a website operated by Amazon with the same products, prices, and shopping features as Amazon.com. The difference is that when you shop on Amazon Smile, the AmazonSmile Foundation will donate half of a percent of the purchase price of eligible products to the charitable organization of your choice.
The MSSC is supporting a sign-up campaign for students, faculty, family and friends to go to Smile.Amazon.com and designate Hill Top as your non-profit charity. It is important to type Hill Top Preparatory NOT Hill Top Prep; otherwise, our school does not appear in the search.
It’s free to sign up, fun to shop and free money for Hill Top.
Box Tops for Education Campaign
The MSSC has renewed sponsorship of the Box Tops for Education campaign. These are the pink and white coupons found on cereal boxes, other General Mills products, paper products, household cleaning products, and many other products, including food storage products such as Ziplock Bags. The school gets ten cents for each one we submit. It may not sound like much, but it will add up if we take the time to cut them out and bring them in. A collection box will be on Mrs. Barnes’s desk.
We have collected $41.00 from everyone's Box Top coupons. Our goal is to double that by the next collection period in April.
Now there's an easier way to do it. Simply scan your store receipt within 14 days of purchase with the Box Tops mobile app to identify participating products and instantly add cash to our school's earnings online.

Post-Secondary Corner
College for a Day workshops - see Mrs. Gillespie for details!
Social Justice: This session includes four interrelated principles (equity, access, participation, and rights) across the disciplines of Early Childhood Education, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Social Work, and Sociology. Participants will address each of the four interrelated principles and contribute to meaningful dialogue and discussion of actions steps that can lead to positive change.
Career Exploration in Business, Computing Science, & Paralegal Studies: join the Business, Computing Science, and Paralegal Studies departments for an immersive experience and hear from panelists about current and future career opportunities in these fields. Participants will have a chance to network with Delaware County Community College students and faculty and participate in a variety of workshops.
Hackathon Event
At the 2019-2020 Hackathon event, students will be confronted with a real world problem that requires collaboration and innovation to develop creative solutions. In an effort to address global challenges and achieve a better future, the Hackathon problem is based on the United Nations global goals. Sponsored by the DCIU intermediate unit. 24 Challenge
The 24 Challenge is a tournament-style competition organized around the 24 Game. The competition is for students in grades 4-8, sponsored by the DCIU intermediate unit.
Over a period of months preceding the event, teachers use the 24 game in their classrooms to help students hone their mathematics skills. Then, using the official rules made available through DCIU- Schools or districts hold local or district-wide playoffs to determine which students will advance to the Championship Event!
