Today’s After School Activities
Cross Country-pick up at 4:50 pm



Girls' Night Out-Today!
The first Girls' Night Out of the year is today, from 4-6.30. Girls will stay on campus to carve and decorate pumpkins. Pizza, apple cider, and s'mores will be available.

Sci-Fi Friday
Sci-Fi Fridays is a social activity that is held on Fridays at lunch period. All interested 9th through 12th grade students should stop by Mrs. Stretch’s classroom at 12:10 pm on Fridays.

Fun Friday-10/25
The next Fun Friday event will take place on Friday, October 25th. The Fun Friday trip will be to The Bates Motel Haunted House, Hayride, and Corn Maze, and is open to the entire student community. The cost of this trip is 60.00, and includes pizza. Students will be leaving at 3:30 pm and returning at 9:30 pm. Information for this event has been sent home. Hill Top Spirit Scarves!
Hill Top Spirit Scarves will keep you warm this winter while supporting Hill Top's 2020 Philadelphia Flower Show exhibit. The Hill Top Horticulture Club is selling school spirit scarves for $15. Quantities are limited! Please contact Mrs. Stretch for details at [email protected].

Optimist Club- Open to All Hill Top Students
Mrs. Mathis and Mrs. Navarra announced that once again the Optimist Club will begin their community service activity group. All Hill Top students are encouraged to join. The Optimist Club students get involved in outside community service projects both on and off campus in a variety of charitable ways. Beginning today, students may join by signing up on the sheets hanging in the Solarium and the Snapple rooms. The club will meet every other Thursday at lunch time beginning on 10/17. POETRY TEAM REHEARSALS BEGIN!!!
Student poets in grades 9-12 must do three things:
1. Submit poetry that you are willing to have edited to Mrs. Selinsky electronically, ASAP.
2. Attend rehearsal every Thursday during Mentor Period. Arrive promptly, bringing a good attitude.
3. Perform at Art Soup on Friday, December 13.
Rewards include fun w/friends, writing, editing, and public speaking experience, pizza, and a tee shirt. Contact Mrs. Selinsky with any questions at [email protected].

Annual Spooktacular Sleepover- 5th- 8th Graders
Ms. Gargiulo announced that this year’s Halloween Sleepover will take place on Saturday, October 26th from 6pm until pick-up after breakfast @ 9am on Sunday, October 27th! An email with details of the annual sleepover has been sent to the parents of students in grades 5th-8th. Please contact Ms. Gargiulo at [email protected] with any questions.

Hill Top Job Board
Mrs. Navarra unveiled the new and improved Hill Top Job Board. The board is located in the Upper Linden hallway and is divided into the 5 surrounding counties. The jobs posted are suitable for students and are part-time positions. Students who are seeking a job are encouraged to take a posting as well as let Mrs. Navarra know if they have a job to post. Mrs. Navarra also offered to assist any student in seeking employment.

College for a Day workshops - see Mrs. Gillepsie for details!

Social Justice: This session includes four interrelated principles (equity, access, participation, and rights) across the disciplines of Early Childhood Education, Criminal Justice, Political Science, Social Work, and Sociology. Participants will address each of the four interrelated principles and contribute to meaningful dialogue and discussion of actions steps that can lead to positive change.

Theatre & Creative Writing: From Script to Stage: Do you ever wonder how a play goes from a story on paper to a performance on stage? Join us for a creative writing workshop led by professors from the English and Drama departments at Delaware County Community College.

Career Exploration in Business, Computing Science, & Paralegal Studies: join the Business, Computing Science, and Paralegal Studies departments for an immersive experience and hear from panelists about current and future career opportunities in these fields. Participants will have a chance to network with Delaware County Community College students and faculty and participate in a variety of workshops.


Hackathon Cybersecurity Competition
Gannon University is hosting a Hackathon Cybersecurity Competition open to juniors and seniors. These events give participants experience in designing a secure a machine, as well as integrating solutions to protect systems from the sort of attacks found in the real world. The competition involves multiple categories of problems, each of which contains a variety of questions of different point values and difficulties.
There is a virtual event in November. Those who make the cut through the virtual event will be invited to an on-campus competition in February. Interested students should see Mrs. Gillespie

SAT - Test date 11/2; Registration deadline 10/3; Late registration 10/22
ACT - Test date 10/26; Registration deadline 9/20; Late registration 10/4

Junior Information Night - Thursday, 10/17 6.30PM
This is a night for all juniors and their families to learn about the college application process, SAT/ACT testing, and graduation project requirements.
