College Advising

For more than fifty years, Hill Top Prep has ensured its neurodivergent students find the best fit for a postsecondary experience that meets their needs and expectations.

Hill Top now offers College Advising to neurodiverse students from any school through the Neurodiversity Success Center. The program provides postsecondary planning and preparation for students and families with a college counselor who understands the needs of neurodivergent students. The program is designed to develop a personalized college search and application plan focusing on:

  • Identifying the level of support the student will need in college
  • Establishing family and student expectations
  • Exploring majors and career paths
  • Building an inventory of  academic, social, and career interests, as well as support needs
  • Identifying teachers who can write appropriate letters of recommendation
  • Working through the personal statement/essay - from brainstorming topics and writing first drafts to submitting a polished final product
  • Identifying and preparing supplemental essays as needed
  • Completing the Common Application, as well as specific school applications as appropriate.

This student-centered process works with the expectation that students are engaged and willing to take the lead in shaping their experience. The goal is to have students see themselves and their aspirations authentically reflected in everything from identifying their college list to writing their personal statement essay and then their final college/university choice for enrollment.
