Kevin Mayne Bio
A creative and disruptive innovator, student advocate, and educational thought leader, Kevin Mayne’s 41-year professional career has focused on assisting students in overcoming barriers to their education. He currently serves as the Head of School for Hill Top Preparatory School. Hill Top Prep serves students in grades 5 through 12 and provides life-changing experiences for bright and creative students who struggle to achieve academic and social success due to performance-based learning differences.
Prior to this appointment, he was the Vice President for Enrollment Management at Landmark College, the global leader in the post-secondary learning disabilities field. In this capacity he is responsible for oversight of the College's enrollment management function, as well as all Short-Term Programming (summer on campus, off campus, and online partnerships and programs). Kevin is a motivated, outcome-driven administrative leader with a comprehensive background across the non-profit educational sector. He has a history of developing successful new programming to assist middle school, high school, and colleges students, as well as to expand brand recognition and promote new revenue generation for his institutions. With a broad knowledge base in all facets of educational administration, his areas of expertise include learning differences, leadership, fundraising, recruitment, stakeholder/donor engagement, global citizenship, curriculum design, special event organization, marketing, budget and finance, growth strategy, revenue optimization, and board development.
He has served as Senior Vice President at Helms College and Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia, overseeing two campuses. Prior to this, he was the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Global Strategies at Becker College where he managed admissions, financial aid, registrar, and marketing. He also oversaw the College's Center for Global Citizenship program, serving as chair of the College’s participation in ACE’s Internationalization Lab and establishing the country’s first Bachelor of Arts in Global Citizenship. During this time, his team brought in the largest new student classes in the College’s 230-year history. Kevin previously served as the Senior Vice President of Mitchell College in New London, CT. He was at Mitchell for 17 years and oversaw the areas of advancement, marketing, and enrollment management. Under his leadership, the college’s enrollment more than doubled, fund raising reached an all-time high, and the College was able to re-brand itself to expand nationally. As a result of his commitment to working with students who learn differently, he created Mitchell’s innovative PG Year program, Thames Academy.
Kevin earned his B.A. (psychology/art therapy) and M.B.A. (marketing) from Anna Maria College, Paxton, MA. In addition, he has completed advanced graduate studies and certificates in the areas of management, leadership, and curriculum design. Most recently he became a certified social pragmatics PEERS® coach for both adolescents and adults through UCLA’s acclaimed program. The winner of numerous national awards for his work in writing, design, and advertising, Kevin is a frequent lecturer in the areas of institutional branding, staff development/team building, learning differences and developmental education. He is the Past President of the Board of Directors for Learning Disabilities Worldwide, a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the educational, professional, and personal outcomes for individuals with learning disabilities.
Because of his longstanding commitment to working with neurodiverse students, he was asked to write the forward for 14th edition of The K & W Guide to Colleges for Students with Learning Differences. Kevin is the proud father of two grown daughters, one of whom identifies as a neurodivergent learner.
