Headmaster’s Message

Welcome to Hill Top Preparatory School!

As an independent school head who has served students with learning differences for several decades, it is a pleasure to be the Headmaster of Hill Top Preparatory School – an extraordinarily warm and accepting community located in a beautiful suburb of Philadelphia. Welcome to our website which has been designed to help you become familiar with so many of the unique elements of our School so that you can better understand the students who we best serve and how we actually do it.

When the founders of Hill Top Prep started in 1971 to serve learning different students they saw, even back then, that many students who struggle in school didn’t have merely language-based learning problems. Today, we refer to these challenges as performance-based learning problems that make traditional school settings very difficult even though these students often have above average intellectual abilities and can often be getting very high grades in school. Our teachers and support staff have developed a safe, nurturing environment for students who struggle to self-advocate, seek to feel safe and desire a sense of personal success.

Hill Top students experience great opportunities for technology such as computer coding and building an understanding of business through classes in entrepreneurship and actual employability internships. They learn about college success and accumulate a variety of experiences in the work force which are built into their daily schedules. College courses both on-line and at campuses in our area provide our students with increased confidence and competence for life after graduating from high school. Our growing partnerships with local corporations provide the work experience and provide our alumni with exciting careers with companies such as SAP, Ernst and Young, JP Morgan Chase, SEI, and Vanguard.

Additionally, our 5-day boarding program provides young men at Hill Top with an opportunity to learn to live with others who are not family members, learn how to prepare meals and do laundry, and to advocate for themselves…. all with an eye to their future.

I hope you enjoy your visit to our website. If you know a student that might benefit from Hill Top’s unique curriculum, please contact us for a personal tour. Representatives from companies that are new to us or organizations interested in rewarding partnerships are also encouraged to reach out for a visit. We have a wonderful school and we are always delighted to share what we do here with visitors.
