good morning Hilltop prep this your Van Dyke here with your community meeting announcements for Wednesday May 13th last week was teacher appreciation week and I talked about the amazing work your teachers have done and continue what to do since moving to distance teaching this week I want to spend a little time talking about the incredible job you've done over the last two months to put things in perspective when you left school on March 13th you had no idea how long you'd be learning from home and neither did anyone else we all hope things would improve quickly and that would be able to get back into our routines before too long but it was the not knowing it was the most difficult it wasn't until a month later on April 9th at Governor wolf order Pennsylvania schools remain closed for the remainder of the year so the prostration of not knowing how long this would last was replaced with the disappointment of knowing that we were going to end the year from home but through it all you've shown such perseverance and adaptability make the most of the situation of course like everyone everywhere there have been some tough days but after each step back you've bounced back and shown the courage to find ways to overcome each obstacle your teachers are so proud of how you face the challenge it's coming your way so far now it's two and a half weeks to go we're in the home stretch of the school year and we have no doubt that you'll finish the year with the same courage and perseverance you've shown these last eight weeks to from your teachers counselors staff administrators and board members we want to express our pride and admiration for the outstanding job you've done to this point keep up the good work today we begin a new segment of community meeting brought to you by mrs. solinsky and the Poetry team starting to I'm continuing over the next few weeks will bring you some fantastic student performances of poetry that have been composed throughout the year so to kick things off here a few pieces performed by Zephyr Berkeley accompanied by babe and Yoko I'm here with my dog there named I'm going to be reading this phone so please with you thought scariest fictional but never write or beautiful I think I think they all exist I've seen them I am them their glasslands and bat wings do not make I love them because I love myself yet also they are you despite differences and things they do Universal morality it's their Humanity their souls like Godly Thunder strike a fissure in the sky it rains on your mistakes forgiveness only granted when you are deserving understanding given to you though they never heard and I see end of the first poem and the second one is called store dirt on those hands irreversible Unforgettable muddy words and hands so oiling a peaceful coffin once half bone screw on the selfie deceptive eyes with Hunger offered dreary sockets a relief shining Phantom eyes dilated and contented right size blinds to Wicked intent no  who conquered a new ignoring instability a Loveless. It's fine and well translucent mask distinct fragility mistakes non defensible so regrettable forgotten and Dad mistakes vexing a bloodless mind even post mortality and abnormality lingering sense is left to impair unheard of people dying twice dread the undead bear end of the second one all right just left this is the last one sorry I'm keeping you so long and this one is called cold Play Mountaintop distant and still you look below you hear no Whispers of the wind nor murmurs of the snow listen you two frigid Darkness the nothingness much alike and all the same to muffle stores in Shroud your eyes clouded and blurry eyes freezes over tears unfocused as white Fades away then severed some beer is frightening you can't observe your limbs as they go numb but Rebel in the comfort cold pain to apathy become chapped cracked lips black and skin floats away the first piece of your ghost as your extremities decay keeping mind of the steady passing time you have quietly refrained now I pieced your spirit unconstrained and that's the last one hope you enjoyed my poetry and my lovely cute little puppies okay it's time to celebrate some birthday Griffin wine celebrated his birthday on Sunday May 11th Liam Young's birthday is today May 13th on Saturday May 16th it said Stouts turn to celebrate and on Sunday May 17th Miss Navarro celebrates her birthday please join me in Wishing them all a happy birthday now for some news from the middle school middle school teacher show host another Friday fun afternoon on you guessed it Friday this week is trippy week and things kick off at 2:45 sharp if your student grades 5 through 8 you will not want to miss this one here's some exciting news for Mr Sedgwick if you were in the upper school you're well aware that last Friday May 8th should have been spent dancing the night away prom unfortunately that wasn't possible but because prom is just too important to let fall by the wayside the prom committee has been hard at work to Bella plans to reschedule why we don't have finalized plans to announce just yet the committee does want you to know that plans are moving forward to hold prom 2020 and December of this year why wait till December the hope is that the class of 2020 will be back on winter break and able to join next to yours 10 through 12th grade students in what will certainly be a prom to remember the official date and details should be available in the next week or so okay that's enough mint is from mrs. Mathis in the car Department a reminder that we are holding our third parent meeting this one is for parents of upper school students the topic is managing stress how to support your high school student and is scheduled for this Thursday May 14th at 12 p.m. parents are strongly encouraged send it possible to link for the online meeting was included in an email if you have any questions please contact mrs. Mathis directly okay couple of announcements from mrs. Gillespie on Thursday May 21st at noon parents are invited to dissipate in a webinar on little known secrets of paying for college with the College funding coach this program will address saving for college as well as how to pay now so it's appropriate for families at all grade levels Hilltop has hosted these folks in the past they are a great resource for saving and paying for college to register for the Revan are check out the event on our Facebook page or contact mrs. Gillespie also mrs. Gillespie is sending out Baby Otis and other Mini Monsters this week if you participated in the thrill off the hill you are reminded to request 1 through the link that was sent out recently or by emailing mrs. Gillespie for that link over the last eight weeks you've sent me tons of examples of how you're showing and sharing Spirit of the hawk through courage perseverance service and Leadership we really enjoyed seeing the diverse and creative ways our community is work to better themselves or make a difference in the lives of others to please keep them coming so we can show the world what we're about and how we're proving that we're all in this together all right that about desert for this week so until next time the well take care of yourselves and take care of each other
