Community Meeting Announcements
November 20, 2020
Cross Country- pick up at 5:00 pm
Reminder from Mr. Van Dyke
We won’t see one another for a couple of weeks so please use today to prepare for the virtual week that follows the Thanksgiving break and please remember to thank all of the people in your life who in any way, big or small, make your life a little better, a little easier and a little happier. See you on December 7th!
Spirit Wear Store
The Hill Top Prep Spirit Wear Shop was such a success that we have decided to leave the store open through December 5th. If you haven’t yet picked something out to show your Hill Top Spirit, make sure you do before the store closes. Orders placed by December 5th are guaranteed to arrive in time for the winter holidays. Hill Top Spirit Wear makes a great gift for that special someone (or yourself). Parents are encouraged to select “in store pickup” to save some money on delivery charges. We’ll pick items up at the store and have them here at Hill Top for you.
BROvember
Gabe Gavin announced: I can’t believe it’s finally here! Yeah, Bro, a warm day, but what I really mean is the Bro-B-Q! The grill master paradise! I hope all you Bros learned a thing or 2 about men’s health during BROvember! I think the most important thing to remember is that you can do a lot to improve your health...brush your teeth, get some exercise, cut down on the screen time, and reach out if you need some help. Everybody needs a little help from their friends and family once in a while...but nobody can tell what you’re thinking, so speak up Bro! And when you’re sitting around the table at Thanksgiving dinner, it’s cool to compliment your cousin Jeremy’s new mustache, your Uncle Bill’s thick beard, or even your Grandpa’s scuff...it’s Brovember November and everybody’s doing it...take a look at a few of our manly Bros on campus...that month-long growth isn’t because they’re lazy or ran out of razor blades. It’s all for men’s health! Bro, enjoy the Bro-B-Q at lunchtime today, the talented musicians that teach your classes daily, and be good to your family and friends. Stay healthy and be kind!
Mrs. Selinsky’s British Lit Class
British Literature students will find a gift on their desks or in their mail. In keeping with ancient tradition, students receive not-at-all-historical Viking helmets each year. Helmets are awarded in celebration of their study of the first one thousand years of British Literature. Helmets may be worn proudly on campus, just for today.
British Literature students also receive entirely-fake noble titles, to whit:
Sir Haydn the Humble, a Scop of Renown
Lady Sophia, Scholar of Ancient Truths
Duke Colton of the Laughter and Pointed Questions
Sir David Fonseca, the Keen & Humorous Observer
Duchess Isabella, Finder of Mysteries and Injustices
Sir Micah the Elusive, Earl of Philadelphia
Lord William Mihal, Keeper of Secrets and Laughter
Sir Colin Swider, Gracious Creator of Verse & Prose
E/T1 Class Pop-Up Shop12
The Annual E/T1 Pop-Up Shop is scheduled to open here at Hill Top during lunch periods on December 9, 10 and 11th. For those of you who are new, the E/T1 class has been making products to sell as they learn about work skills. Small gifts, including chocolate trees, hanging decorations and snowman candy bars will be for sale. All items are priced between $1 - $4. This is the perfect place to buy gifts for family members and friends.
More details will follow after break!
Spirit of the Hawks
Ms. Minicozzi would like to award the Spirit of the Hawk for perseverance to Savonne Middleton and Eile Burke Prior for persevering on a challenging project in which they worked to scan the History of Hill Top Preparatory School book by Founder Elissa Fisher. The digitization of the book required significant attention to detail and problem solving and is part of a larger project that the ET classes are working on in preparation for the School's 50th anniversary in the fall of 2021.
New SEL
Calling all remote-control enthusiast… Aiden Jones would like to start an RC Club as an SEL. If you are interested in joining the RC club, or would like to learn more about what the club will be all about, you are encouraged to talk to Aidan. New SEL’s will begin when we return from Thanksgiving break.
