Morning Music
This morning’s music selection comes to us from Domenic Trezza. The song is “losing it”, by the band rush. This is a song that was made in tribute to Ernest Hemingway, an American journalist who took his own life in 1961. The song was published in 1982. The lyrics of the song in particular speaks mostly about losing something you were once primed for due to old age, dementia, in other words.

Hill Top Spirit Day
On Friday, November 20th, we are inviting everyone to participate in a Hill Top Spirit Day. Wear your Hill Top gear or Blue and White to show your school spirit!

Spirit Wear Store
The Hill Top Prep Spirit Wear Shop was such a success that we have decided to leave the store open through December 5th. If you haven’t yet picked something out to show your Hill Top Spirit, make sure you do before the store closes. Orders placed by December 5th are guaranteed to arrive in time for the winter holidays. Hill Top Spirit Wear makes a great gift for that special someone (or yourself). Parents are encouraged to select “in store pickup” to save some money on delivery charges. We’ll pick items up at the store and have them here at Hill Top for you.

Winter Sports
This is the last week of the fall sports season. The winter sports season begins on December 7th! Registration information for Basketball, and Winter Fitness Club, was emailed home. Students interested in participating in one or more of these offerings should return their registration forms by Wednesday, November 18th. Please contact Mr. Van Dyke with any question at [email protected].

Soccer Team Shout Out
It was a beautiful game of soccer yesterday. At first the teams did not look fair on paper but luckily the game was on the grass. Teammates Stephen, Aidan, Nate, Jameson, and Sam were trying to come back after a strong first half showing by Ryan, Brendon, Carly, and Jared. Great passing and hustle by Jameson Boland who had an amazing header to block a shot on goal. Carly Campanella was impressive all game scoring left and right footed, she had to pull back V move that stunned her opponents and she was the leading scorer of the game.

Spirit of the Hawk
This student stepped up to clean up a large mess that he did not create and for doing so on his own despite my offering to take care of it, Mrs. Jones would like to award a Spirit of the Hawk for service to Lee Gardner!

Post-Secondary Corner
Thanks to everyone who participated in Saturday's Smash Bros tournament. It was a great night and a good time was had by all. Congratulations to Ben DeLaurentis for smashing the competition.
A good bit of thought and preparation went into planning the evening and without the leadership of one student who proposed the idea and did much of the follow through, it would not have happened. So, Mrs. Gillespie would like to award a Spirit of the Hawk for Leadership to Luke Erwin!

Some holiday trivia, courtesy of Middle and Upper School Student Councils...did you know that the Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade is the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the country? Hill Top is about to announce the youngest Thanksgiving parade...stay tuned.

BROvember
Today is both National Take a Hike Day and National UNfriend Day. Bro, exercise is one of the very best ways to relieve stress, it also reduces depressions and anxiety, lowers some cancer risks and reduces high blood pressure. Even a couple laps around the loop would be a great benefit to anyone who has the time. UNfriend all those negative influences in your social media world! By surrounding yourself with positive, trusted friends, you improve your outlook on all aspects of life! A 2018 University of Pennsylvania study found that reducing social media use to 30 minutes a day resulted in a significant reduction in levels of anxiety, depression, loneliness, and sleep problems But, you don't need to cut back on your social media use that drastically to improve your mental health. Make today a great day by cutting back on social media time and filling that void with a walk in the great outdoors! Bro, who knew that you could improve your world so much with so little effort!
