9th Grade Academy

9th Grade Academy students have a required course called Art Foundations. The structure of the class is five days per week for one semester. Students work in a variety of techniques and styles of art to give them an appreciation for the visual arts and also lay the groundwork for continuing with elective art classes if they choose to do so in the Upper School.

 

Projects and assignments rotate each year but the overall structure of the course is consistent. Students experiment, grow and develop their skills in both 2D and 3D projects with a variety of traditional materials and technology. Connections to academic classes are also made to emphasize how important the arts are to understanding and developing in the world today.
