Please come to Hill Top’s First All-School Book Read! Resilient by Rick Hanson, PhD

Hill Top’s first All-School Book Read will feature the book Resilient: How to Grow an Unshakable Core of Calm, Strength, and Happiness by Rick Hanson, PhD (2018). Parents are invited to read the book and to join members of the Professional Development Committee and other faculty at the Community Book Discussion on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 from 6:30-8 pm. Celebrating School Library Month and National Poetry Month with Book Spine Poetry!

Thrill on the Hill-5/18

Mr. Van Dyke announced that registration is open for the “Thrill on the Hill” to be held on Saturday, May 18th! All students, families, faculty and friends of Hill Top are encouraged to register and join in the celebration. Each Friday, beginning April 5th until the “Thrill”, registered students will be entered into a drawing for a gift card. The earlier your student is registered the more chances he/she has of winning!

Lunch Laps

To help gear up for the Thrill on the Hill 5K challenge, Mr. Van Dyke is encouraging students to walk laps each day at Recess. The Student that completes the most laps will receive a gift card.



Career Day

Career Day is tomorrow from 1:00pm to 2:40pm! We have a variety of volunteers coming to Hill Top to present to small groups of students. Each student will rotate to three different presentations from careers of their choice.



Hill Top Video Series

Today we viewed the newest video of the series which focuses on our amazing students. Congratulations to all students that participated in making this fabulous video. This video is now available to view on Hill Top’s Facebook page, and will soon be featured on the Hill Top’s website.

Prom Music

Austin Newbold announced that he sent a Google Form out to 10th through 12th grade students asking for song suggestions for the prom.



Field Trip to Delaware University

Mrs. Gillespie is offering 9th through 12th graders the opportunity to visit Delaware University. This field trip will take place on Monday, May 6th. Contact Mrs. Gillespie with questions at [email protected].



Donations for Mason Bee House Project

Griffin Goetz has reached his goal in collecting used aluminum cans and scrap metal. Griffin would like to thank all who helped him to raise enough money to build the bee houses for his Boy Scout project.



Create a Personal Year Book Page

All students have received an email from TreeRing that gives them an opportunity to create a personal page for their year book. The deadline for entering a personal page is April 11th. Please contact Marion Kassab with any questions: [email protected].



Hill Top Scarves Are In!

The Hill Top Horticulture group continues to sell their cozy, reversible, school spirit scarves. The scarves are $15 each. All proceeds benefit the Hill Top Horticulture Club. Parents may pay online, or with a check. Please make checks payable to Hill Top Preparatory School. Contact Mrs. Stretch with your order details at [email protected]. Thank you for your support!



Poetry Team

Today at Mentor Period, we'll have the last rehearsal at which a 9th-12th grader can join Poetry Team for the May performance. It is also the deadline for submitting a poem, so that you can vote for the team shirt and perform in May. The six rehearsals from now through May 23 are mandatory for all team members.



Girl’s Night Out-Friday, May 3rd

Mrs. Gillespie announced that the next Girls Night Out will be an Escape Room event. Students should see Mrs. Gillespie for a registration form.



Dave and Buster’s - 4/26

Mr. Betteridge announced that the next Fun Friday trip will be to Dave and Buster’s. Everyone is very excited about this one. An email containing the registration form and detailed information will be sent out.

This year's trip will be on April 26th and will cost $65. Each student will receive a $10 Power Card for ticketed games, as well as UNLIMITED non-ticketed arcade games. Contact Mr. Betteridge with questions at [email protected]



Fun Friday -Phillies Game- 5/17

The Night at the Ball Park Fun Friday trip will take place on May 17, and is open to the entire Hill Top Community. Anyone is welcome to buy tickets. Bring your family and bring your friends! Hill Top Alumni, Faculty, and Staff are invited too. This has always been one of most popular Fun Friday events we've hosted and we expect this year to be no different. While we encourage students to attend with their families, Fun Friday van transportation is available too. Tickets are $34 each, and the deadline for registration is April 16th. , please contact Mr. Betteridge with any questions at [email protected]



Prom-5/10

This year Hill Top's prom is being held on Friday, May 10th, from 7 PM to 11 PM at Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova. All upper school students are invited to attend, and each student is welcome to bring a guest. Typically, there are some students who choose to bring a guest and some who do not--either way it is a very fun evening!

A big thank you to Faith Markley who designed the Hill Top Prom tickets this year! Students may purchase prom tickets from now until April 30. The price per ticket is $50. Mr. Sedgwick will be sending an email to parents with more information regarding this event.









Hill Top Job Board

The Hill Top Job Board is located in the Upper Linden hallway and is divided into the 5 surrounding counties. The jobs posted are suitable for students and are part-time positions. Students who are seeking a job are encouraged to take a posting as well as let Mrs. Navarra know if they have a job to post. Mrs. Navarra also offered to assist any student in seeking employment.



Box Tops for Education Campaign

The MSSC has renewed sponsorship of the Box Tops for Education campaign. These are the pink and white coupons found on cereal boxes, other General Mills products, paper products, household cleaning products, and many other products, including food storage products such as Ziplock Bags. The school gets ten cents for each one we submit. It may not sound like much, but like Amazon Smile donations, it will add up if we take the time to cut them out and bring them in. A collection box will be on Mrs. Stamler’s desk. Thank you!



Water Bottle Announcement

The Hill Top’s 8th grade students are participating in the UNLESS Project through the Philadelphia Zoo to raise awareness about endangered species and help protect the environment. We are encouraging students to help us reduce waste on campus by using a reusable water bottle



On a related note, Hill Top's lunch program will no longer include disposable plastic water bottles. Students should plan to bring a reusable bottle from home. Please contact Mr. Van Dyke with any questions.
