Middle School Student Council Trip to Presbyterian Village

On Wed. the MSSC visited the Presbyterian Village retirement community. This is the fifth year they visited this facility. The students and residents participated in a team-building activity called Time Slips; residents and students created a group story based on pictures projected on a screen. Next, the MSSC showed a nostalgic YouTube video about pop culture in the 40’s & 50’s. Then, the students paired up with the senior citizens to play a few rounds of inter generational Quizzo.

Mrs. Nelson mentioned that at all times the MSSC students were wonderful representatives of Hill Top!

Poetry Team

This Thursday, April 4 at Mentor Period, we'll have the last rehearsal at which a 9th-12th grader can join Poetry Team for the May performance. It is also the deadline for submitting a poem, so that you can vote for the team shirt and perform in May. The six rehearsals from now through May 23 are mandatory for all team members.

Girl’s Night Out-Friday, May 3rd

Mrs. Gillespie announced that the next Girls Night Out will be an Escape Room event. Students should see Mrs. Gillespie for a registration form.

Dorm Buzz

Ben Barretta reported that last week’s Guys Night Out was a big success. Seven students slept over and had an excellent time visiting Ithan Creek, playing football, competing in a Smash Bros. Tournament, going to Poco Loco for Paint Ball, plus lots of other activities!

Prom-5/10

This year Hill Top's prom is being held on Friday, May 10th, from 7 PM to 11 PM at Radnor Valley Country Club in Villanova. All upper school students are invited to attend, and each student is welcome to bring a guest. Typically, there are some students who choose to bring a guest and some who do not--either way it is a very fun evening!

Students may purchase prom tickets from now until April 30. The price per ticket is $50.

Mr. Sedgwick will be sending an email to parents with more information regarding this event.

Career Day

Career Day is Friday, April 5th from 1:00 pm to 2:40 pm! We have a variety of volunteers coming to Hill Top to present to small groups of students. Each student will rotate to three different presentations from careers of their choice.

Donations Needed for Mason Bee House Project

Griffin Goetz, one of our 11th grade students, announced that he is building bee houses as part of a Boy Scout project. Griffin is collecting used aluminum cans and scrap metal to help raise money to build the bee houses. Please help by bringing cans in for collection or email John Goetz at [email protected] if you have scrap metal to donate. Thank you!

Hill Top Job Board

The Hill Top Job Board is located in the Upper Linden hallway and is divided into the 5 surrounding counties. The jobs posted are suitable for students and are part-time positions. Students who are seeking a job are encouraged to take a posting as well as let Mrs. Navarra know if they have a job to post. Mrs. Navarra also offered to assist any student in seeking employment.

Box Tops for Education Campaign

The MSSC has renewed sponsorship of the Box Tops for Education campaign. These are the pink and white coupons found on cereal boxes, other General Mills products, paper products, household cleaning products, and many other products, including food storage products such as Ziplock Bags. The school gets ten cents for each one we submit. It may not sound like much, but like Amazon Smile donations, it will add up if we take the time to cut them out and bring them in. A collection box will be on Mrs. Stamler’s desk. Thank you!

Water Bottle Announcement

The Hill Top’s 8th grade students are participating in the UNLESS Project through the Philadelphia Zoo to raise awareness about endangered species and help protect the environment. We are encouraging students to help us reduce waste on campus by using a reusable water bottle

On a related note, Hill Top's lunch program will no longer include disposable plastic water bottles. Students should plan to bring a reusable bottle from home. Please contact Mr. Van Dyke with any questions.
